Unless you’re completely not interested in technology, you probably have heard about Samsung launching two new phones on August 7th – Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10 +. While the phones are not on sale yet (but are available for pre-ordering), we have gathered some information about the newest phone market entrants to help you decide if it is the device for you.
If you want to make sure that you get the device as soon as it hits the markets, the new Note 10 and 10 + are available for pre-ordering.
We have gathered some of the places where you can pre-order the new device:
The new devices do come with a hefty price tag, as expected. The Galaxy Note 10 would make you say your goodbyes to £869, while the 4G version of Galaxy Note 10+ would cost you £999. The 5G version of Galaxy Note 10 + is the most expensive of the new devices and would leave you without £1,099 – £1,199 (depending on the storage size and 5G support).
You should also consider insuring your new device. As impressive as these phones are, they are not indestructible. Repairing the phone could cost almost half of its worth if not more. We will be offering Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 + insurance starting from £8.99 a month, the second the phone will hit UK’s market.
The Galaxy Note 10 features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with FULL HD. The Galaxy Note 10 + features a 6.8-inch AMOLED Infinity-O display supporting QHD, meaning that whatever you do on the phone – watching Netflix, playing games, watching Youtube videos – it will look amazing.
The design of both devices is pretty similar to S10 and S10 plus. Probably the biggest difference between the two devices is the full screen display and front-facing camera located at the top centre of the screen. The Note 10 is lighter, thinner and smaller than its predecessor Note 9. Its weight is 168g and it makes the Note 10 one of the lightest flagship Samsung phones available. The frame of the phone is premium metal and the back is made of glass. The phone will be available in 3 colours – Aura Glow (combination of blue and white), Aura Black and Aura Pink.
The Note 10+ is relatively light considering its size (77 x 162 x 7.9mm), it weights 196g. The rounded edges make it easier to hold it, but you will need quite big hands to make it sit comfortably in your hand. Same as Note 10, this device’s back is made of glass while the frame is metal. It is worth considering getting a case to protect the phone from breaking. Same as Note 10, this phone will most likely be available in the same three colours. The devices are water and dust resistant so you don’t have worry about your phone while enjoying the last days of summer.
According to techradar, the Galaxy Note 10 uses the same combination of 16MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP regular lens and a 12MP telephoto lens, so there is no upgrade from the S10 or S10 +. Regardless, this camera still delivers great photography experience. There are some upgrades for the video recording capabilities, though. The image stabilisation technology has been improved, and there is a new feature called Live Focus Video. This feature enables you to capture background blur effects. You can make a subject pop out from the background while changing the colours of the background, which we were able to do for photos, but not for videos. Another feature is called AR Doodle, which allows you to write over moving images. It works similarly to filters on Instagram and Snapchat.
The Note 10 Plus, in addition to the previously mentioned three cameras, gets an additional DepthVision camera. Thanks to that, the Live Focus Video function works better on Note 10 + than on the standard version. The same as the Note 10, Note 10+ has the AR Doodle function and a zoom-in mic which allows to get clearer audio from specific parts of scene when recording a video.
The Note 10 stylus upgraded gesture control allow users to control apps by only moving the stylus in different directions. Currently the gesture control works with Samsung apps only, but that could be updated.
The phone is powered by Exynos 9825 chipset which allows the phone to run more efficiently. The phone is only available with 256 GB of storage and there is no microSD support. However, that should be more than enough for the average user. If you need more storage, the Note 10 + would be the choice for you. Samsung has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the phone. Therefore, you will have to use USB-C port supported headphones (or wireless) to connect to the device. The Note 10 features a 3,500mAh battery which should deliver a longer battery life than before, but has not been properly reviewed yet.
The Note 10 + specifications slightly differ from Note 10. Even though the S Pen has the same functionality as the one of Note 10, the Note 10 + has way more storage space than Note 10. You can choose between having 256GB or 512Gb worth of storage. There also is microSD support up to 512GB. The battery on Note 10 + is a 4,300mAh cell, which is more powerful than the one on Note 10. However, same as for Note 10, its performance has not been properly reviewed yet. The Note 10 + has the same processor as Note 10. The Note 10 plus will have a 5G version as well, but it will be even more expensive than the 4G one (see price under ‘Release date and price’).
