A refurbished phone is a pre-owned device that has been repaired, restored, and tested to ensure it is in good working condition. These phones are typically returned by customers to the manufacturer or retailer due to defects, cosmetic issues, or simply because the customer changed their mind. Refurbished phones undergo a thorough inspection and any necessary repairs are made to restore them to a fully functional state.
During the refurbishment process, faulty components are replaced, the software is updated, and any cosmetic imperfections are addressed. The phone is then tested to ensure it meets the manufacturer’s standards and functions properly. Once it passes all the tests, it is repackaged and sold as a refurbished phone, usually at a lower price compared to a brand-new device.
It’s important to note that not all refurbished phones are the same. Some may be refurbished by the manufacturer or authorised repair centres, while others may be refurbished by third-party companies. Additionally, the condition of refurbished phones can vary, with some showing minimal signs of use and others having more noticeable wear and tear. Therefore, it’s advisable to carefully read the product description and warranty information when considering a refurbished phone purchase.
Grade A: Referred to as ‘Pristine’ or ‘Like New,’ represents phones that are typically customer returns or devices that have been returned due to minor defects that have been rectified. These phones are as close to a brand new device as you can get, ensuring a high level of quality.
Grade B: Also known as ‘Very Good,’ indicates phones with ‘light’ signs of use, which may include minor cosmetic imperfections on the screen or body of the device. Despite these slight blemishes, the phone will generally appear and feel almost new.
Grade C: or ‘Good,’ signifies phones with ‘moderate’ signs of use, including visible scratches on the screen or body. While it will be evident that the phone has been refurbished, opting for this grade allows for substantial cost savings compared to higher grades.
Proof of purchase: You will need to provide valid proof of purchase for the refurbished phone, such as an invoice, or receipt. This document should indicate the purchase date, price, and details of the device.
VAT-registered company: Your phone must be purchased from a VAT-registered company. For example – CEX, Back Market, O2 and Game.
Right Grade of phone: When insuring your refurbished phone please be ensure the phone is no less than up to an A Grade.
A new phone is brand new, unused, and comes with all original accessories. It is free from any signs of previous use and typically carries a manufacturer’s warranty. On the other hand, a refurbished phone is a pre-owned device that has undergone repairs, restoration, and testing to ensure its proper functioning. While refurbished phones may exhibit minor cosmetic imperfections or signs of previous use, they offer the advantage of being priced lower than new devices. However, the warranty coverage for refurbished phones may vary.
The availability of new phones is generally widespread, as they are readily accessible at their full retail price. In contrast, the availability of refurbished phones depends on the supply of pre-owned devices that have been refurbished. When choosing between a new phone and a refurbished phone, factors such as personal preferences, budget constraints, and the significance of having a brand new device with comprehensive warranty coverage come into play.
