We’ve all felt the frustration of a slow desktop; the silent rage that the loading circle induces. But the same can happen with your smartphone. They are essentially miniature computers so it makes sense that they will in time slow down in terms of performance. Luckily, there are ways to speed up your smartphone:
Your phone only has a certain amount of RAM, and just as your computer suffers when you have too many browser tabs open, your phone is likely to run slower if you have too many simultaneous tasks. If your phone is taking its time to respond, it’s worth checking you don’t have multiple programs running in the background.
When you run an app on an Android phone, it temporarily stores data in your phone’s system memory. Clearing the cache manually allows you to free up memory and help things run a little faster. To clear the cache of individual apps, go to Settings, Apps and select the app. If you have lots, it might be worth downloading a third party app like Cache Cleaner which will get the job done quicker.
It could be what’s making your smartphone run more slowly than it should. Backing your card, formatting it and then putting your files back into place could make a big difference to your device.
Photos and apps, as well as videos, music and messages, take up space on your phone’s internal storage. Just as your car starts to feel the weight when your boot is filled to the brim, your phone will run faster if you get rid of some of the clutter. Chances are there is loads on your phone you’d forgotten even existed!
