It’s not just Apple and Google battling it out for smartphone supremacy; Samsung just got involved too. Spoilt for choice if you’re considering a new handset, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has just made your decision that bit harder. Labelled as the S6 Edge on steroids, it boasts a huge screen and excellent camera as its standout features.
Its appearance is a refreshing break from the norm too. Like the S6 Edge, the Plus sees the screen stretch around the edges. Unlike the Galaxy S phones of old, there is no plastic in sight, just metal and glass. The 5.7 inch screen has impressive QHD resolution, Super AMOLED technology and is easy to read even in bright sunshine (we can dream!).
It’s certainly an attractive device. Yes it’s a big phone, but it’s slim so it doesn’t feel too bulky. It also feels very solid, although it’s worth noting that the back is not removable, if this is an annoyance of yours.
If it is, we’d be willing to bet that the quality of the camera more than makes up for this. An impressive 16 Megapixels, the camera is very fast, sharp and easy to use, with excellent low light performance. The front facing camera is nothing to be sniffed at either, at 5MP.
A decent battery life adds to the reasons to put the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus at the top of your wish list. It also has 4GB of RAM (compared to 3GB with the standard S6 Edge). It’s worth pointing out though that at almost £600, you are paying for this extra power, so if you use your phone mainly for calls, texts and web browsing, it might be worth considering a cheaper option. Another point worth bearing in mind, is that this device does not offer any expandable storage.
